My second book is called Unnecessary Drama, and it’s a rom-com set in a student share house in Melbourne. It’s a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers story. And a coming-of-age story, and a moving-out-of-home story, and a making-new-friends story, and a dealing-with-anxiety story. Oh and it’s funny (well I think so anyway).

Here’s the official blurb:

When Brooke arrives in her share house to begin her new life as a university student, she’s ready and organised, anxiously armed with lists and apps for every situation.

What she hasn’t prepared for is a distinct lack of rules —or for one of her housemates to be her friend-turned-enemy from high school, Jesse. Determined to avoid any unnecessary drama, Brooke vows to simply stay out of his way.

But ignoring Jesse turns out to be a lot harder than she thought.

Laugh-out-loud funny, Unnecessary Drama is a heart-warming romance and a joyful coming-of-age story. It’s about leaving home, dealing with the unexpected complications and anxieties of life, and somehow finding exactly what you need.

Unnecessary Drama was published by Text Publishing in Australia, and it’s available in all good bookshops. It was published in the US by Flatiron Books in August 2023.
